Numbers 2: God Has Everything in Order

Numbers chapter 2 made me smile somewhat because everything had to be in order.

Num 2:2  Every man of the children of Israel shall pitch by his own standard, with the ensign of their father’s house: far off about the tabernacle of the congregation shall they pitch.

Num 2:34  And the children of Israel did according to all that the LORD commanded Moses: so they pitched by their standards, and so they set forward, every one after their families, according to the house of their fathers.

God told Moses how everyone in Israel needed to get organized by tribe. It reminded me how God likes everything organized, and how He originally put the universe in order.

1Co 14:33  For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints.

1Co 14:40  Let all things be done decently and in order.

Of course, the take away from this passage for you and I pretty much comes down to the fact that if God can put all of that in order, we need to trust Him to put our lives in order and follow Him as well. He organized the nation of Israel in Numbers, and He even organized and created the entire universe. I know that He can handle organizing our footsteps as well.

Jer 29:11  For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.

If the end is expected, then there must be some type of order already put in place. God knows all of the past, present and future, and He has a hand in all of history.

We can definitely take comfort in this fact though. The end is expected, and earlier in that verse, God says that He wants us to have peace rather than evil. He wants the best for us.

Isn’t it pretty amazing that the God who created everything cares about looking out for every little detail in our lives? I am glad that He is the God of order and organization.
